Hat Time

Don got Quinn a hat while on a recent business trip and Quinn enjoys putting it on. This morning he found one of Don's Chicago Bears hat and had some fun with it.

Nigh-Nigh's

Quinn likes to hop in to bed and pretend to tuck himself in and go to sleep. He puts his head on the pillow and snores softly. It's so very cute. In this first video Quinn has just taken a bath and has tucked himself in to bed.

Quinn's bed is ready for him to start using -- we just received the bedrail in the mail yesterday. We've been talking about his bed and getting him used to it. Don will sometimes read books to him in bed. I plan to start putting him in there for his naps and start the transition. Here's a video of Quinn tucking himself in to his own bed.

Hanging out on the front porch

We're enjoying a little Indian summer hanging out in the front yard. Life is good :)

Retrospective

I have to admit that this is a bit of a shoddy video. The fact that I was able to put it together in about an hour is proof of the poor craftmanship ;) Ah well, it's still very cute. The photo montage is of Quinn from a year ago (Aug/Sept 2008) and the "talking" you hear is of Quinn today riding in the car. I was driving him around to get him to nap and he was very chatty. I think the video starts with him counting in Spanish. You'll also hear "adios Marlini" around the middle of the video.

Cheers Big Ears

You're wondering why I would post of picture of cups, bowls, and plates. But it's actually a funny story. Quinn put his sippy cup and the glass together and said "cheers!". He added the plate and the bowl and said "cheers" again. Our little guy is pretty funny!

Craft Day

We had our first rainy, cool day this week so we were stuck in the house. I have a small craft box for Quinn so I went digging through it to see what I could find to keep him busy. I ended up pulling out some crayons and a big sheet of plain paper.

Here's the artiste hard at work!

And the collection of Quinn art begins! Here he is standing in front of his masterpiece (which is still taped to the wall). On a side note, Quinn loves his apples. I found some smaller sized local apples at Whole Foods that Quinn has been digging in to.

Then we moved on to digging through the kitchen drawers. It's amazing the stuff he pulls out of the drawers. He's frequently looking for an iphone (or video as he calls it).

This is a funny picture. He had pulled out the drawers on both sides of the cabinet and realized that they just about touch.

He thought he might have hit paydirt and come up with the iphone but it was a cruel imposter. You can see the disappointment on his face!

Happy Birthday Don!

We had such a great weekend in Maryland for Don's birthday. We met up with friends on Friday night (9/11) for Happy Hour and had a chance to catch up with those we hadn't seen in 5+ years. I headed home early to get the munchkin in bed and Don and stayed out late with the gang and partied like he was still a young man :)

Saturday night we had dinner with Nick & Suzie at Volt in Frederick. Volt is considered one of the top 25 restaurants in the DC area and the chef, Bryan Voltaggio, is on this season's Top Chef -- and he's kicking some ass!! He has a great chance of winning the whole thing. We had a 6 course meal in the kitchen and it was delicious! Our wait staff was having a great time with us and even told us a Saturday Night Live/Chicago Bears joke!

Here's Don and Nick at dinner (you can see the kitchen in the background)

At the end of the meal (before or after dessert? not sure) the waiter brought us teeny-tiny ice cream sandwiches -- they were about the size of a quarter. We requested that Don eat his teeny-tiny sandwich with 2 hands. Here he is nibbling on his ice cream sandwich.

It was so much fun to be back in Frederick with our friends. I haven't laughed that hard in years! It wouldn't have been possible without Grams looking after TMQ most of the weekend. They adore each other so fun was had by all!

Quick Post

I am really behind in getting the blog updated but just haven't had the time lately. I think a certain almost 2 year old might have something to do with that. I have lots of pics and videos to post and hope to get them up soon. In the meantime, here are a couple of cute shots I took of Quinn on Friday when we were romping around the neighborhood.

Fun @ Grams House

Mom picked up a second hand car for TMQ to cruise around in while in Maryland. He will push it for two steps, jump in it for five seconds , repeat, repeat, repeat. He also likes to collect goodies to store in the 'trunk' -- sticks, grass, dead bugs -- all sorts of little boy goodies. And doesn't he look great in pink!

Our Last Days at the Pool

We are sadly counting down the days of summer while we enjoy a couple more days at the pool. On Thursday Don boldy said "we're going to the pool every day this weekend even if it's snowing!". We had great weather today and enjoyed the morning at the pool. Hopefully we'll have more of the same on Sunday and Monday.

habla espanol?

I'm not sure what we would do without Marlini, our housecleaner/babysitter/homemanager/etc/etc. I think that deserves a blog unto itself. But, Marlini is usually at the house 1 or 2 times a week and Quinn LOVES her. He follows her everywhere and she speaks to him exclusively in Spanish. The other morning (when Marlini wasn't there) Quinn said Hola and then Hola Marlini just out of the blue. Yeah! In this video, Quinn pushed his highchair in to the foyer and I heard him counting and talking so I decided to catch the action. Enjoy!

Self Portrait

Quinn gets ahold of my camera on a regular basis and takes lots of photos. He has the camera so close that the flash just blows out his face. I decided to try a little bit of photoshop magic on one of them and this is the result. This almost reminds me of a shot that his cousin Al might take.

Dinner at Benihana

I blogged a couple of weeks ago about our new challenges in taking Quinn out to dinner. We had gone to Benihana for dinner thinking that Quinn would be entertained and happy with the dinner "show". Not...so...much. I must have forgotten that I documented our evening because I just found these pics.

OK, so we start off with a chefs hat for Quinn. All is well.

Quinn quickly shows off his new move which is throwing himself backwards and screaming.

We then move to tag-team walking around with him.

Now he's having some fun.

And we end on a happy note.

Tonight we visited a casual mexican restaurant in Westfield and we had a great time with Quinn. We sat outside and he was facing the street so he could catch all the action. I think dinners out are still a possibility!
